Ronda Rousey has been away from WWE since losing the Raw Women's Championship to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35, but we could see the Baddest Woman on the Planet return sooner rather than later.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Ringside News), WWE wants Rousey to appear at the SmackDown Fox debut in the fall. It's worth noting that Alvarez said he hasn't "heard a whisper of" Rousey returning "any time soon."
But if WWE gets its way, Rousey will be making a comeback when Fox launches its first airing of SmackDown Live. Rousey is currently on an "impregnation vacation" with husband Travis Browne, which began after her aforementioned loss to Lynch.
Last year, Rousey had talked about wanting to eventually start a family, so it was known for a while that she was going to take a hiatus from WWE. The company previously said in a statement that Rousey is signed through April 2021, so it's only a matter of time until she returns to the ring - although it's anybody's guess when that will be.
WWE insider Brad Shepard recently reported that Rousey's return to the promotion is "inevitable," and he suggested that she has "unfinished business" with Lynch. Thus, it's logical to believe that Rousey will rekindle her feud with the Raw Women's Champion once she returns.
Rousey's first year in WWE was a massive success; she became the Raw Women's Champion and excelled in portraying both babyface and heel characters. She was a tremendous add to the WWE roster, and you know the company will be ready to push her once she returns to action. We just have to wait and see when that will be.
What This Means
It's been reported that WWE will be bringing back a handful of big names for the SmackDown Fox debut, so it's no surprise they're looking back to have Rousey appear. WWE tends to stack up as much star power as possible in special episodes like this one, and if Rousey comes back for it, maybe she'll drop a hint on her next match/feud in WWE.
