American Top Team owner Dan Lambert has admitted that Ronda Rousey's mic work makes him cringe.

Rousey's ring work has left little to be desired since she became part of the WWE and the former UFC star is clearly one of the most technically gifted wrestlers on the company's roster. However, she has come under heavy criticism for her promos, although her recent heel turn has actually made her a more likable character if that makes sense.

The female superstar was recently fined by the WWE for an outburst and her latest promos have left people wondering whether she's gone off the rails, especially given her vlogs, in which she's been very critical of the promotion as of late.

Lambert, though, believes that it is all scripted and he says hasn't been very impressed watching Ronda with the mic in her hand.

“It makes me cringe a little bit," he said in an interview with Fightful. "It’s nice to have that suspended disbelief when you go to a wrestling match and that ‘what if?’ I think it would have been better if she said ‘pro wrestlers are wimps and we’re tougher, I’m an MMA fighter and I’ll kill you in a real fight'."

Lambert says that, despite the "cringey" mic work, he's very pleased with Rousey's fighting.

"I’m still really impressed with how she’s done since she’s gone over there, especially in the ring," he added. "She’s taken to it like a fish to water with a brief training camp so to speak to learn her profession. She’s having really good matches. I give her a lot of credit.”

What This Means

Admittedly, Ronda isn't the best on a WWE mic and doesn't come close. Her recent promos have all been in an angry tone and she sort of comes off as a scorned teenager. Yet it should be noted that she had to fight a speech impediment as a child.

Rousey revealed having grown up with speech apraxia, a motor speech disorder which caused her to mispronounce words. She was able to overcome it through years of speech therapy but also admits that she's still pretty nervous when doing promos.

That being considered, she's actually been doing pretty well. So can we all just cut her some slack now?
