WWE has revealed details about the upcoming season of Total Divas, including who has made the show's eight-person cast.

Vince McMahon boasts that WWE is not a wrestling promotion, it's an entertainment company. The chairman has been striving to prove that for decades. In 2019, it is a truer statement than ever. Wrestling will always be at the heart of what WWE does, but many of its revenue streams flow in from non-wrestling shows and activities.

Take Total Divas, for example. If you have watched the show, you will know that apart from the fact its cast is made up of wrestlers, the show has very little to do with what happens in the ring. Instead, it is a reality show that follows the lives of a select group of female WWE Superstars, and a few male cameos from time to time too.

This fall, Total Divas' season nine will air on E! starting on October 2, as revealed by WWE this week. The cast is always shaken up between seasons somewhat, and this year will see two new additions. Ronda Rousey and Sonya Deville. They will be replacing Paige and Lana, and also fill in for Brie and Nikki Bella who will not feature as prominently on the show as they have done in the past.

It was no secret that Rousey would be joining the cast, but we have had to wait until now for WWE to make it official. Her starring on the show will be seen as a major coup by WWE too. Season eight of the show saw record-low ratings, and with the semi-departure of The Bella Twins, we'd have thought WWE will have wanted a big name for the show to focus around before even considering pushing forward with season nine.

We are equally excited to get a glimpse into Deville's social life as we are Rousey's. The former MMA fighter will be the first openly gay cast member on the show and will be the breath of fresh air Total Divas needs in its ninth season. Deville and Rousey will be joined by Natalya and Naomi, who have been mainstays on the show since season one, as well as Nia Jax and Carmella.
