Ronda Rousey has been confirmed for next year's WrestleMania.

Wrestlemania 34 is right around the corner, and for the most part, the card is good to go. With that in mind, the WWE has turned its attention to next year’s show. Never one to rest on its laurels, the company has revealed the WrestleMania 35 logo as well as the venue in a recent announcement, with New York/New Jersey slated to be the site of all the action. To cap it all off, they saved possibly the biggest news for last, by also confirming one of the show’s main attractions.

Riding the momentum of her recent appearance with the WWE, Ronda Rousey is set to compete in one of the most anticipated matches of the card next month, when she teams up with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and his wife, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. However, that’s not enough for them, as Triple H slotted Rousey onto the WrestleMania 35 card.

In recent years, the WWE has positioned itself onto the forefront of progression by featuring women’s wrestlers in several high profile matches, with the first Women’s Royal Rumble Match, Elimination Chamber match, and Over-The-Top Battle Royal all taking place in 2018. So it comes as no surprise that they continue this move by pushing their biggest new signing into the spotlight. Mainstream audiences have been missing for years, and Rousey’s presence is expected to remedy that.

Nothing has been said who Rousey will face next year, or if she will be part of the main event. However, whichever match she finds herself in has all the potential to headline the show, as her skills and attitude have been putting her in main event situations for the past several years. At the tail end of a brief, yet explosive career in the UFC, Ronda Rousey appeared at WrestleMania 31, tossing Triple H to the ground before throwing around Stephanie in what was dubbed the “WrestleMania moment of the night”.

While the company would be wise to capitalize on Rousey’s drawing power, one can’t help but think what her presence is doing to the women’s locker room, which is filled with incredible talent that may not be getting the proper chance to shine. Either way, these moments are the reason that WrestleMania is the “Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment.”
