John Morrison is one of the most athletic and talented performers in all of professional wrestling. It’s crazy to think that he was once under a WWE contract, because he should have been a World Champion at some point, but now he performs for Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground. If you believe a recent report from Dave Meltzer, Morrison could be heading to another huge promotion in the near future. Meltzer has reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer that there has been communication between Morrison/Impact/Mundo and New Japan Pro Wrestling, and it could mean we get to see the Shaman of Sexy in the Land of the Rising Sun.

As we know at this point, there has been contact between the two sides before, but John’s contract with AAA and Lucha Underground prohibited anything from happening. But now he’s free from that, and with more and more Western stars heading to New Japan, it seems like it’s just a matter of time at this point. Morrison is an interesting case however, as he could either perform at the heavyweight division against the likes of Suzuki, Okada, Naito, Tanahashi, Omega and others, or he could help out the Junior division against the likes of Scurll, Sabin, Kushida, Ospreay or Takahashi, and all the possibilities make us incredibly excited.

With Chris Jericho making a huge impact in New Japan, it’s clear that the rest of the wrestling world has been taking notice, and a jump to Japan’s hottest promotion would be huge for his career, and quite frankly, we really hope it happens in the very near future.

So what do you guys think? Is this one a possibility now that Morrison is freed up of all contractual obligations? Would you prefer to see him in the Junior or Heavyweight division? Do you think the two sides could come together before the G1 Climax? As always, let us know all your thoughts and ideas in the comments below.
