According to sources within NXT, American Ninja Warrior Alumni Kacy Catanzaro is leaving the WWE and retiring from in-ring competition.

She may be among the most popular female superstars in WWE to not yet get her break. the former American Ninja Warrior star who was brought into NXT and quickly became a fan favorite with her high-flying ability and David vs. Goliath potential might be done in wrestling before she really gets a chance to get started.

We've reached out for comment to Catanzaro and have yet to hear a response, but reports are coming out that she injured her back and as a result, has decided to call it a career in terms of her wrestling aspirations.

Before Catanzaro made her in-ring debut at an NXT live event on April 19th, in Sanford, Florida, she was the woman who'd defied the rules of American Ninja Warrior folklore. Able to do things no woman had done on the show, she took that spotlight and immediately became a prospect of the future for WWE.  She made an official debut on TV during the second Mae Young Classic Tournament against Reina Gonzalez in the first round match but ultimately lost in the second round to Rhea Ripley.

Her highest-profile match was probably when she appeared in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match this year. Things were only looking like they were going up before this surprise announcement that she might be done.

What This Means

It would be a shame if Catanzaro has called it a career already but clearly, she needs to do what's best for her health. It will be interesting to see if she's continually part of the WWE landscape as she's the current girlfriend of soon-to-be-megastar Ricochet.

Even after reports, she's still been active on Twitter commenting on WWE news, videos and Ricochet's status. She's yet to acknowledge any reports publicly.
