There will be lots of speculation as to who attacked Roman Reigns backstage at SmackDown on Tuesday. An interesting photo might have spoiled things.

One of the big stories coming out of Tuesday's edition of SmackDown Live was who attacked Roman Reigns when the staging structures and road cases fell on top of the Big Dog and nearly removed him from being able to compete at SummerSlam. You can see from the video below the segment in question, it was a segment that was dramatic but not meant to reveal the attacker.

Early speculation is that Samoa Joe was going to be the named the attacker. Considering their history, that would make some sense. But, a photo being handed around on social media suggests it might be someone else.

Fans on Twitter are passing around a photo of Buddy Murphy walking away from the scene of the attack. Called up to SmackDown's roster, Murphy hasn't been used much outside of Shane McMahon's town hall segment since being promoted and speculation is WWE is trying to find something for him.

WWE has tried to hide the identity of the attacker by showing different pairs of shoes and quick camera cuts during the segment but the photo is quite revealing. It might be meant to throw fans off but, at the same time, might be an easter egg for what's to come.

What This Means

If WWE is gearing up towards a SummerSlam match between Reigns and Murphy, it appears the company is jumping right over moving Murphy up the ranks but putting him in a prime spot right away. WWE did something similar with Cedric Alexander on Raw.

This would be a huge opportunity for Murphy but not exactly the most high-profile match WWE could put together involving Reigns at their biggest show of the summer. It will be interesting to see if they think big-ticket matches will sell the card or if the PPV itself is an opportunity to push lesser-used stars in more prominent roles.
