There are rumors the Toronto Raptors have interest in guard Jimmy Butler out of Minnesota. If so, that would be a clear signal the Raptors are all in on upcoming NBA season.

According to a variety of sources, there is no shortage of interest around the NBA in Butler's services and the Timberwolves have made it clear he is available for the right price. With teams like the Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Portland Trail Blazers all among the teams apparently interested, should it surprise anyone that the Raptors might make a play, especially considering they just acquired Kawhi Leonard in trade from the San Antonio Spurs?

According to 5 Eyewitness News' Darren Wolfson, the Raptors are one of the many teams who has reportedly expressed some interest in a trade for Butler. Wolfson also tweeted later on Monday that the Wolves had received a number of offers and were sifting through them. A trade could happen as early as today, but more likely over the next couple days.

Speculation is that Butler is interested in joining the LA Clippers, which, if he wound up in Toronto, would make him an expensive rental. That means, like Leonard, the Raptors would be taking the chance of moving valuable assets for someone who won't be with the team long-term. Butler is scheduled to enter free agency next summer so most of the interested teams are likely looking for some sort of guarantee he'll re-sign and in Toronto, he'd be considered a fine addition, but a huge risk.

The question becomes, what do the offers look like for Butler? Can the Raptors find something that would be better than what's being offered by another team? And, should they? is it worth giving up if Toronto has no way of knowing whether or not he'd stay put?

Ideally, Toronto would love to have Butler and he and Leonard hit it off, both signing extensions to be with the Raptors organization for the foreseeable future.
