If last night's episode of Monday Night Raw was an indication of anything, it looks like WWE is changing up its direction for two marquee superstars.

Roman Reigns was supposed to clash with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 for the Universal Championship, but those plans changed (more on that shortly).

The belief was that WWE would revisit this feud, however, after Reigns won the Universal Championship in a No Holds Barred triple threat match against Wyatt and Braun Strowman at Payback. It doesn't look like that will be the case now.

After attacking Kevin Owens on last week's episode of SmackDown Live, Wyatt spoke to the former during another Firefly Fun House segment last night. Owens left the ring to confront The Fiend, but he was attacked by Aleister Black.

As noted by Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co, it looks like WWE is moving in separate directions with Reigns and Wyatt. The Universal Champion is in a feud with his cousin, Jey Uso, while Wyatt is seemingly beginning a program with Owens.

Reigns defeated Uso at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view, and the two are set to square off again at Hell in a Cell on Oct. 25.

Of course, it's always possible that WWE will draw back to this plan and pit Reigns against Wyatt down the road, perhaps at WrestleMania. But both superstars are portraying heel characters right now, and if they find themselves on opposite brands after the draft, it's unlikely that WWE will run this program any time soon.

Reigns vs. Wyatt was supposed to happen at WrestleMania, but Vince McMahon reportedly called for a change and pitted Goldberg against Reigns instead. The latter wound up removing himself from WrestleMania for safety and health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Strowman replaced Reigns and defeated Goldberg at WrestleMania to become the new Universal Champion.

WWE Should Run This Feud At Some Point

It's somewhat surprising that WWE is moving away from a Reigns-Wyatt feud that has been anticipated for almost a full year now. Clearly, Vince and officials aren't keen on doing this program now. But it has to happen at some point down the road, especially while Reigns continues to surge as a top notch heel.
