The casket match between The Undertaker and Rusev at Greatest Royal Rumble will now feature Chris Jericho instead of The Bulgarian Brute.

The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia later this month is shaping up to be quite the show. The main attraction of the night will, of course, be an epic 50 man Royal Rumble match but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Seven of WWE's championships will also be on the line in Jeddah and Triple H will be going one on one with John Cena.

One of the more intriguing matchups on the card that was added earlier this week is a casket match between The Undertaker and Rusev. The Deadman returned at WrestleMania 34, making short work of John Cena. Although there is no current storyline reason for him to clash with The Lion Of Bulgaria WWE booked the first time ever match anyway.

As is often the case with WWE however, plans change. Just 24 hours after announcing the Casket Match, it was announced via WWE.com that the bout has now been tweaked. A returning Chris Jericho will be taking Rusev's place in the match and it will mark the first time the sure-fire Hall Of Famer has ever competed with a casket in the mix. Surprising and probably the only type of match that Y2J has never competed in at this point.

Why the u-turn with Rusev though? Well, at the time of typing this that is still unclear. According to WWE's official announcement, Rusev has been removed from the match due to a tweet compiled by his wife Lana after the bout had been booked. The Ravishing Russian stated that she didn't want her husband competing in a casket match and told WWE that she wasn't happy about it.

Even though WWE is currently playing this whole switch around up as being a part of an angle that seems extremely unlikely considering the circumstances. Rusev has been hinting that he is not happy with his current position in WWE and his removal from the Greatest Royal Rumble card may signal that the end is nigh for the former United States Champion. Enjoy Rusev Day while you can because it may very well be the last one, at least in WWE.
