Rusev Gets New Look Amid WWE Departure Rumors [Photo]

Rusev has gone through some different looks throughout his WWE career, and he's back at it yet again.

The Bulgarian Brute posted a photo of his new look on his Instagram story. He ditched the beard and went with the mustache-only look, which you can see below here:

This could be a sign that WWE is about to repackage the Bulgarian Brute. Bobby Roode introduced the new "Robert Roode" character, in which he shaved his beard and also donned the mustache-only look.

Sasha Banks returned to WWE after a four-month hiatus on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, turning heel by attacking Natalya - while revealing her new blue color look. So if recent history is an indication of anything, a new look could mean a new character and gimmick for Rusev.

Earlier in his career, Rusev had long hair and the full beard. He cut eventually cut his hair shorter and alternated between the full beard and the goatee. That took place during his popular "Rusev Day" run, in which the Bulgarian Brute became a babyface and a top seller in merchandise sales.

But it remains to be seen if this new look spotted by Rusev actually means anything for WWE. So far, he and Lana have not signed new contracts with the company, and WWE insider Brad Shepard said the duo are currently "weighing their options."

Not only that, but both Lana and Rusev have been vocal about their frustrations in WWE. Dave Meltzer recently suggested that Rusev could leave WWE soon, and that both AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling "would want him." So it's quite possible that Rusev's new look will be displayed for a different promotion in the near future.

What This Means

A new look could mean that WWE is ready to repackage Rusev and bring him back on a full-time basis, as he and Lana have only appeared sporadically in the past few months. Hopefully, we'll receive more answers about their future in WWE over the next couple of weeks or so.
