The WWE Universe has been behind Rusev and Rusev Day seemingly much more than WWE has been. His merchandise sales and live event chants rival those of any other WWE Superstar, but the powers-that-be haven't bought into the Bulgarian Brute as he's remained as a mid-carder, at best.

There seemed to be some hope that a push was forthcoming for Rusev when he was picked for a casket match vs. The Undertaker at The Greatest Royal Rumble. But just as soon as Rusev was added to the match, he was dropped from it as WWE then replaced him with Chris Jericho with the storyline reason being a tweet from Lana in which she says she refused to let her husband participate in the match.

After the announcement that Rusev was out and Jericho was in, Rusev then conspicuously removed all references of WWE from his Twitter account. He also stopped following WWE on Twitter and simply sent out this tweet.

Many are wondering if this is all a work as Rusev is pretty savvy on Twitter. This could all be part of an elaborate storyline, but with the way WWE has disregarded Rusev in the past, some are actually thinking the worst.

What also makes it seem like there is legitimate beef between the two sides is the fact that WWE's YouTube page went out of its way to hide the 'Rusev Day' chants from a recent broadcast. During SmackDown Live's opening segment in which Paige was named new GM, she came to the ring to announce a match with Daniel Bryan for later in the night. While AJ Styles was ultimately announced as Bryan's opponent, fans clearly chanted 'Rusev Day, Rusev Day' before they chanted for 'AJ Styles, AJ Styles.' However, on WWE's YouTube page, they have clearly replaced the Rusev Day chants with the AJ Styles chants.

This also comes after rumors that Rusev was going to quit WWE before they added him to the WrestleMania US Title match. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire but Rusev fans are hoping that all of this blows over and he can go back to being a looked-over WWE Superstar, which is still better (for most) than being an ex-WWE Superstar.
