Last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder cruised to a 100-83 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and Russell Westbrook did something he had done 106 other times over the course of his career.

Westbrook posted his 107th triple-double scoring 23 points, bringing in 19 rebounds and dishing out 15 assists. And with that impressive game the Thunder point guard moved into a tie with Jason Kidd for third place on the all-time triple-double list — behind Magic Johnson (138) and Oscar Robertson (181). Even more impressive though is that it took him only 706 games to get 107, while Kidd needed 1,247!

Last night's triple-double was Westbrook's third this season and his second in as many games - and comes after a terrible game last Saturday that saw him stick around until the arena had cleared and spend over two hours working on his shot.

ESPN Quotes Westbrook talking about the accomplishment after the game:

"I am extremely blessed and humbled to be able to go out and play and compete in the NBA in of itself, and just to be named with Jason Kidd and Magic and Oscar and those guys, I could never have dreamt about even sitting here talking to you guys. I take everything in and never take anything for granted."

Westbrook was injured to start the season and has only played 12 games so far. So, it may be taking him a little time to find his shot. But he is obviously working hard to get back in the groove he has been in the last couple seasons when he averaged a triple-double in back-2-back seasons - an accomplishment that had never been done before. Prior to his doing it for the first time in the 2016-17 season it had only been done once before by the great Oscar Robertson back in the 1961-62 season.

What This Means

During his historic 2016-17 season, Westbrook set the record by achieving 42 triple-doubles on the season. And last year he racked up 25. While those numbers aren't going to be reachable every season, if he is back to his all-star form, he should have no problem passing Magic and grabbing second place on the site sometime next season.

As for getting the 72 triple-doubles he needs to pass Robertson, well that could take a few more seasons. But given how he has been a triple-double machine, it is a definitely an achievable goal.
