Sasha Banks Could Return At SummerSlam [Rumor]

The WWE Universe has anxiously awaited the return of Sasha Banks, but it sounds like the Legit Boss will be back in very short time.

According to WWE insider Brad Shepard, the former Raw Women's Champion will be present for this weekend's SummerSlam event in Toronto. This comes three days after Shepard was told by a source that Banks is "scheduled" for a return this Sunday.

Banks last appeared in WWE four months ago at WrestleMania 35, where her and Bayley dropped the Women's Tag Team Championships to The IIconics. It was initially reported that Banks was unhappy about having to drop the titles, and the booking decision led to her wanting to quit WWE.

That led to speculation that Banks would leave for the rival AEW promotion, but all signs are pointing to her sticking around in WWE. In fact, wrestling journalist Tom Colohue recently reported that Banks' was granted some time away, and that her absence isn't "considered as anything too out of the ordinary." Colohue added that Banks is in "continual contact" with WWE.

If Banks does appear at SummerSlam, it'll be interesting to see how the return plays out. Her long-time friend, Bayley, is slated to defend the SmackDown Women's Championship against Ember Moon. Perhaps Banks would play a role in that match and help Bayley retain, or even pull off a heel turn against her best friend?

Becky Lynch will defend the Raw Women's Championship against Natalya, while Hall of Famer Trish Stratus will go up against Charlotte Flair. Banks could also appear in some capacity during one of those matches.

What This Means

Banks' return to WWE promises to be epic, whether it comes tomorrow or at a later date. She's been one of the company's elite female superstars since her call to the main roster for three years. If she does return at SummerSlam, it'll be a cherry on top of what should be an excellent show.
