There have been rumors and teases regarding a potential Sasha Banks appearance at SummerSlam 2019, and The Legit Boss may have all but confirmed that she'll be returning tonight.
On her Instagram page, Banks shared a photo of her backstage with close friend Bayley and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, with the caption reading "My girls."
Bayley is set to defend her SmackDown Women's Championship against Ember Moon, while Stratus will go up against Charlotte Flair in what will likely be the final match of her illustrious career. Whether or not Banks will have any involvement in either of those bouts remains to be seen.
On Saturday, WWE insider Brad Shepard reported that Banks was going to be in Toronto for the SummerSlam weekend. Shepard also reported earlier this week that her "return is imminent," and that the former Raw Women's Champion is "ready to return." Sure enough, it looks like we'll be seeing her back in WWE following a four-month hiatus.
Banks' last appearance in WWE was at WrestleMania 35, where her and Bayley dropped the Women's Tag Team Championships to The IIconics, ending their run as the inaugural title holders.
After WrestleMania 35, it was reported that Banks wanted to quit WWE - having grown frustrated about dropping the Tag Team titles. It was also suggested that WWE granted Banks time off in order to reconsider her future with the company.
However, wrestling journalist Tom Colohue recently stated that her hiatus wasn't "considered as anything too out of the ordinary," and that she's stayed in touch with WWE. We'll just have to wait and see if Banks indeed makes her anticipated return to the ring tonight.
What This Means
If Banks does come back to WWE tonight, it'll be interesting to see how the return plays out. Would she interfere in a match, or simply appear in a backstage promo? It's anybody's guess how it'll go down, but simply having Banks back after a four-month hiatus is a huge win for WWE and her countless fans.
