Turns out all you need to do to be declared the best in the world is win one very short match against Dolph Ziggler.

WWE's first ever World Cup at Crown Jewel threw up some interesting and pretty entertaining matches. Rey Mysterio versus Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler versus Kurt Angle. It might be a ridiculous way to decide who's the best in the world, as WWE puts it, but at least we got to see some decent wrestling.

The final actually wound up being a match we have seen numerous times before, but one we haven't seen for a while. Ziggler versus The Miz. However, things quickly descended into farce. While the referee was busy sending Drew McIntyre back to the locker room, Miz tried to get the jump on Ziggler and attacked him. However, he managed to injure his knee in the process.

That meant the referee was forced to declare Ziggler the winner by forfeit, or that's what it looked like was going to happen. Shane McMahon didn't want it to go down like that, though. He stopped the announcement from being made and instead declared that he would be taking The Miz's place. Turns out that you can be a WWE World Cup finalist without having competed in a single match.

Things only got more ridiculous once the match had begun. Ziggler had already competed twice that night remember, so was a lot less fresh than McMahon. He did still manage to plant Shane O Mac to the mat with a Zig Zag, however. The SmackDown Live commissioner kicked out and went on to win the match, even throwing in a coast to coast on his way to it for good measure.

McMahon was hardly a graceful winner. He demanded the World Cup trophy, even though he barely deserved it, and gleefully paraded it back up the entrance way. So many questions. Is Shane McMahon now considered the best in the world? Will The Miz suffer any consequences for not being able to compete? Or actually, did he fake the injury as he didn't want to risk losing his job? We guess those questions will be answered on next week's SmackDown Live.
