WWE legend Shawn Michaels has revealed that he is still very much involved with the company, doing a bit of everything behind the scenes with NXT.

The promotion is run by HBK's partner in crime Triple H but the veteran claims to have his hand in all of the workings and is even functioning as a writer.

Michaels, who wrestled at the recent Crown Jewel even in Saudi Arabia, was a guest on the return episode of Edge and Christian's podcast, E&C's Pod of Awesomeness, and spoke about working with the young talent in NXT.

It's well known that Michaels works at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. But he's also very involved with NXT, with Triple H pulling him in to work a few days a week initially.

“To [Triple H] and I, clearly, [NXT] is his baby, but I mean, I’m all in. Yeah, they’ve got me hook, line, and sinker," he claimed.

"And it’s funny because he kind of hired me like, ‘just stick your big toe in and see how you like it. Just do a couple of times a week.’

“And then, of course, whatever it is, two years later, I’m full scale helping to write TVs and doing it all!

"I’m so far in, there’s no way I’m getting out and I have no desire to get out because it’s a blast. It really is.”

Michaels put in a vintage performance at Crown Jewel earlier this month but he did appear quite labored at certain points during his match alongside Triple H as they beat The Undertaker and Kane.

That Triple H suffered a very real shoulder injury early in the bout did not help.

"I'm glad to say that I did it, but I don't want to try it again." he said after the event. "Yeah, yeah, so, look, the one upside is… again, you're always just curious, 'can I do my stuff?' So, technically, yeah, I could go in there and do my stuff and have the young guys work around me and all of that.

"But the 100% only reason I said, 'yes' to this one was, one, it was a special request by other people. And, again, it was a chance… I looked at it like someone is asking the Stones and KISS to come over and just play their greatest hits. That's it."

What This Means

It appears that HBK will be operating in some role or the other for the WWE for some time to come.

Sure, he's said that he has no plans to return to the ring after coming out of an eight-year retirement for one more match. But it's very possible he feels the itch to perform again every now and then as he remains very much involved with the company.
