This week's SmackDown Live, the final stop before Survivor Series on Sunday night. Like Raw on Monday, you'd have likely expected Tuesday night's show to be dedicated to tying up loose ends. Focus on the final build to the champion versus champion matches and a chance to fill the final spots in the three elimination matches. That was not the case. Despite the PPV only being five days away, Survivor Series was shaken up in some major ways on SmackDown Live. You'll find everything you need to know about those changes and more below.

At Survivor Series this Sunday, AJ Styles will get a second chance at trying to join an extremely elite club. Superstars who have defeated Brock Lesnar in WWE. While sending a message to his opponent during the opening segment of SmackDown Live, he was interrupted. Not by Brock Lesnar of course, he wouldn't be seen dead on the blue brand, but by The Beast's advocate, Paul Heyman. Heyman got under the skin of Styles, labeling him second best to Daniel Bryan. Clearly, the advocate got under the skin of Bryan too who came to the ring and began brawling with the champ. That brawl continued backstage where an irate Shane McMahon gave in and booked the two of them in a WWE Title match later that night.

Just booking that match threw SmackDown Live's Survivor Series plans into disarray somewhat. Bryan is supposed to be on the blue brand's men's team this Sunday, however, if he beat Styles in Tuesday's main event he would instead face Lesnar at this weekend's PPV. That meant Paige had no choice but to remove him from the team. Now sole captain The Miz instantly replaced him with Jeff Hardy who had just beaten Andrade Almas. Miz also wanted to remove Rey Mysterio, but Paige said if he wanted to do that, he would have to defeat him. The team captain tried and failed, so thankfully, Mysterio will still be a part of team SmackDown Live this Sunday.

Shockingly, everything going on with the men's side of things wasn't the biggest way in which the Survivor Series card was shaken up on SmackDown Live. Those of you who watched Raw will know that an invading Becky Lynch suffered a pretty nasty blow to the face. So nasty in fact, that she can no longer compete against Ronda Rousey this Sunday. A real shame, and The Lass Kicker had to come to the ring and select her replacement on Tuesday night. The entire blue brand women's division was in the ring, but there was only ever one person worthy of filling that slot, Charlotte Flair. The match we thought we'd be seeing at WrestleMania 35 is now only four days away.

Believe it or not, there were a couple of Survivor Series matches that were not flipped on their heads during this week's SmackDown Live. One of those is The Bar versus Authors Of Pain. As a warm-up, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, along with Big Show, took on all three members of The New Day on Tuesday night. The match came to an end when Show clocked Kofi Kingston with his massive KO Punch. Sheamus and Cesaro have to know that come Survivor Series, that won't be an option. Plus, even if it was, we're not entirely certain that punch would work on the behemoths that are Akam and Rezar. Their manager Drake Maverick should probably be on high alert at ringside, though.

For the second week out of the last three, SmackDown Live featured a WWE Championship match between Styles and Bryan. This time the result of the match could have even bigger repercussions than potentially crowning a new champion. Bryan had already lost his place in the men's elimination match at Survivor Series by just being in the match. That's because if he won he would not just become champion, but also take Styles' place opposite Lesnar this Sunday. Yet again, the two of them put on a terrific match, and then came the twist. While the referee wasn't watching, Bryan clocked Styles with a low blow. As boos rained down, that's right Bryan was being booed, he lined The Phenomenal One up for a high knee. It connected, he pinned Styles, and we have a new WWE Champion. A heel champion we might add, as Bryan confirmed that by further attacking the now former champion after the match.
