On SmackDown Live, Becky Lynch kicked things off with a bang and while one particular match gave her segment a run, she held her spot as the best part of the show.

Tuesday's show was all about introducing news faces and setting the stage for the Royal Rumble which was soon to arrive. The Miz threw a birthday party celebration for Shane McMahon, Andrade squared off with Rey Mysterio, Mandy Rose got outplayed at her own game and the animosity continued between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan.

Was SmackDown Live better than Raw? Yes and no.

Here are the winners and losers for January 15, 2019.

Winner: Becky Lynch

This segment to open the show featured all sorts of WWE Superstars, from popular names like New Day to new faces like Heavy Machinery. Still, the person who stood out above all was Becky Lynch. She was on a mission, yet she took a few seconds as distractions popped up to prove they really weren't much of a distraction at all. She was bigger, badder and better than all of them. She was "the man" as she walked to the ring.

The match that followed wasn't much to write home about but it did serve its purpose that she's not going to be taken down when she's doing her thing and taking names.

Loser: Styles/Bryan Merchandise Brawl

The actual fight itself was entertaining, but the motivational session delivered by AJ Styles felt awkward. From the overbearing crowd noise that made it hard to hear what Styles was saying to the idea of throwing shirts and merch into the crowd pulled Styles out of his comfort zone. It only got back on track when Bryan emerged from the crowd to start a fight with The Phenomenal One.

All that aside, the best thing for WWE to do is keep the action hard and heavy between these two. Is a Falls Count Anywhere match out of the question? Not if the recent developments between these two have anything to say about it.

Winner: Samoa Joe

A good old fashioned beating, delivered by Samoa Joe has been in order for some time and he finally got to deliver it. Unfortunately for Mustafa Ali, he was on the receiving end. He may not be the last based on the comments made by Joe in a backstage segment.

The only thing arguably better than the beatdown was the promo he delivered afterward. He's one of the best in the business and you believe every word.

Winner: Andrade Vs. Mysterio

Anything you can imagine this match to be, it was. The athleticism, storytelling, and back and forth action could and should have made this the main event, not just on Tuesday, but potentially a major pay-per-view. Hopefully, the company paid attention.

If one were to draw a negative out of it, the name change from Andrade "Cien" Almas to Andrade is just another 'thing WWE does' to its superstars.

Loser: Mandy Rose

The Mandy Rose schtick is already growing tired. That's perhaps the nicest thing to say about the storyline. WWE needs to give these infidelity angles a break for a while because they just don't work in a non-attitude era WWE. Tuesday was as far as WWE has pushed the envelope in that direction and you could tell they are rusty at it because it just wasn't good.

Rose can argue she's getting screen time but, when all is said and done, it won't benefit her long-term career or her chances of being taken seriously.

Loser: The Birthday Celebration

How the segment between Shane McMahon, The Miz, and The Bar was determined the best way to close the show on Tuesday is baffling. Was the idea to send the crowd home happy with a cake to Sheamus' face? If so, that could have been done after the show ended and for the sake of the live audience only. This was simply a poor choice.

The Miz has lost a ton of momentum since the World Cup Tournament and one can only hope a major swerve is coming so he can get back to his sleazy, cheating roots.
