The Golden State Warriors will have Superstar Steph Curry available to play when they kick off their NBA championship defence against the Oklahoma City Thunder at their Oracle Arena on Tuesday night.

There were fears the sharpshooting guard might be suspended for the Dubs' season opener - which is going to be an extra special one as the team will be handed their rings - after he stepped onto the court during a preseason loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last Friday.

With just under a minute left to play, the Warriors' Quinn Cook fouled new Lakers star, Lance Stephenson, quite hard, something the forward took exception to. It looked as if he might initiate a skirmish but the match officials were able to douse the flames before things got out of hand, although the latter was ejected for throwing a misdirected punch.

Curry would jump to his feet from the sideline, entering the court along with injured center DeMarcus Cousins, and headed towards the group of legal players.

The pair got within a few feet of the players involved before Curry was pushed back by Jaron Collins, the Warriors assistant coach.

According to Yahoo Sports, Curry won't be suspended for Tuesday's opener but he did face a real risk of being made to sit out the game against the Thunder.

Of course, that would be annoying for the Warriors, their fans and NBA Fantasy team owners who managed to snag him ahead of their peers. But everyone can breathe easy as it has been revealed that the star will be eligible to play on Tuesday

Per NBA rules, any player not in the game who steps onto the court during an altercation could be suspended. But, according to Yahoo, who quote league sources, the NBA does not consider the spat between Cook and Stephenson an altercation and are of the view that it was a one-sided affair, leaving both Curry and Cousins in the clear.

While Curry has been deemed fit to play following the revelation of an undisclosed injury, despite not participating in practice on Sunday, Cousins remains sidelined for the time being and could possibly sit out the rest of the year.
