WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin has been impressed with the work of two marquee WWE superstars.

During an interview with Ryan Satin on WWE On Fox (h/t Sai Mohan of WrestlingInc.com), the Texas Rattlesnake revealed two of his favorite superstars in the company today.

For starters, Austin praised the work of former SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley, one of the company's perennial main event stars. Austin specifically pointed out her work as a heel.

"Well, I've said in the past as well. When Bayley turned heel, I think she became one of the most entertaining heels in the business," Austin said. "There's layers to her work. From a female standpoint, Charlotte Flair came back recently and Becky Lynch left because she was having a baby, but right now, I really like Bayley's heel work. I've been liking it for quite some time."

After spending her first six years in the WWE as a popular babyface, Bayley made the transition to heel alongside close friend and tag team partner Sasha Banks in 2019.

Bayley has retained the heel persona while continuing to flourish as one of the company's elite superstars. Her 379-day reign as the SmackDown Women's Champion (which ended at Hell in a Cell following a loss to Banks) is the longest in the title's history.

Sports Illustrated named Bayley the No. 6 best wrestler in the world for 2020. Banks, who worked alongside Bayley for most of 2020, claimed the top spot.

As for Austin's favorite male superstar? That would be WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who emerged as arguably the company's most valuable superstar in 2020.

Austin recounted a conversation with fellow Hall of Famer Mick Foley, where the former expressed his doubts about McIntyre becoming a top guy:

"From a guy's standpoint, Drew McIntyre is someone I like," Austin said. "I remember talking about Drew to Mick Foley on my podcast a few years ago. At the time, if you told me Drew was going to be 'the guy' I would have said, 'nah, he's a mid card guy.' But Foley told me, 'you should watch this guy.' I've been watching him. To meet him in person and get a feel for his physicality and mentality and way he thinks about the business, I'm very impressed with Drew. He's really earned the position he's at in the business today."

After spending most of his tenure with WWE in the mid-card division, McIntyre finally enjoyed a main event push last year, beginning with his victory in the 30-man Royal Rumble.

Fast forward a year later, and McIntyre is a two-time WWE Champion and the top face on Raw as he prepares for a showdown with Hall of Famer Goldberg at the 2021 Royal Rumble.

Bayley & McIntyre Carried WWE In 2020

WWE managed to work through the many difficulties of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The product remained highly interesting and exciting for fans, and that was thanks in large part to top superstars like Bayley and McIntyre. They put on grade-A matches and worked excellent promos throughout the year. These are unquestionably two of the company's most valuable talents to emerge in the past decade.
