The Golden State Warriors starting five already boasted four All-Stars before they even signed DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year deal worth $5.3 million.

Cousins - a four-time All-Star - signed for way below market value to join the Warriors, who have won three NBA Championships over the last four years. Unfortunately for Cousins and Warriors fans, head coach Steve Kerr admit that Cousins' tenure with the super team will be a short one.

"We made no bones about it when we signed him," Kerr told reporters, via Logan Murdock of The Mercury News. "This is a 1-year deal and we're not going to have money to sign him next year so we'd like to help him win a championship and sign a great contract somewhere else. That's the reality."

That's good news for 29 NBA teams and the majority of fans who have grown tired of the Warriors' super team. This group has already won three championship with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson - with Kevin Durant being part of the last two.

Adding Cousins to their star-stacked lineup wasn't necessary, but Kerr gave a clean explanation why. Cousins - who spent the bulk of his career on lonely Sacramento Kings teams - gets the chance to win a title and reset his free agent market for 2019.

The Warriors face a serious cap crunch and simply won't be able to afford Cousins, who has yet to play a game this season as he continues to recover from a ruptured Achilles that cut his 2017-18 campaign short.

Thompson is a free agent after this season, and though he's expected to stay with Golden State, the four-time All-Star will not come cheap. Neither will 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, who could leave in free agency this offseason. Even if he stays with Golden State, Durant will not be taking a big enough pay cut.

And finally, defensive stalwart Draymond Green could be in line for a major super max, and the Warriors will want to retain his services however they can. There's a good chance they lose one of Green, Durant and Thompson, so there's really no way Cousins can fit onto this roster for next year.
