AEW has confirmed that Sting will indeed be competing in-ring for the company, and he will make his debut at Revolution.

2020 was one packed with shocking moments in wrestling. However, one of the most shocking of all was seeing Sting show up in AEW. The WCW Icon and WWE Hall of Famer walked through a faux snowstorm and chased off Team Taz, saving Cody Rhodes from a further beatdown in the process.

Sting immediately built a relationship with TNT Champion Darby Allin. Allin has been compared to Sting a lot, mainly because of the pair's shared fondness for black and white face paint. Sting has been acting as a silent mentor of sorts to Allin since his debut, but fans have been asking one question. Is this all leading to Sting returning to the ring more than five years after he was forced to retire?

Both Sting and AEW have been reserved when it comes to confirming or denying that, until now. The company has finally revealed that Sting will indeed be wrestling for AEW, and has announced when his very first match will be. A tag team street fight at Revolution in which he will team with Allin to take on Ricky Starks and Brian Cage of Team Taz.

It has been more than five years since Sting last competed in the ring. What fans thought would be his final match came against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2015. Sting pretty much collapsed in the ring during that match thanks to an injury caused by a Bucklebomb moments earlier. The match was brought to a premature finish and it has been assumed ever since that Sting had retired.

In fact, Sting himself might have believed his career was over, but apparently not. It should be noted that this is a tag match, which likely means Allin will be doing most of the heavy lifting for the team. Sting will likely tag in and hit his signature moves, and at 61 years of age, that's all he needs to do. While AEW hasn't confirmed this match will be Sting's debut, it's assumed he won't be competing on Dynamite between now and then. Revolution will air live on February 27, 2021. This is the only match announced for the show so far.
