Sting talks about how big a dream match a showdown with The Undertaker would have been and what he had planned if it had happened.

There are so many potential dream matches in wrestling right now, especially with the number of New Japan and other independent stars being snapped up by WWE. Unfortunately, there are also a number of dream matches that have been left on the table. Blockbuster bouts we will never get to see no matter how much we may want them.

The biggest of all those impossible dream matches has to be Sting versus The Undertaker. Throughout the Monday night war between WWE and WCW, neither's man's loyalty towards his respective brand waivered. Sting was WCW through and through right up until the day the company was bought out by WWE, and The Deadman has been a loyal servant to Vince McMahon since 1990.

When Sting finally arrived in WWE four years ago, it felt as if that dream match was finally going to happen. Sadly, less than a year later, he suffered a career-ending injury while wrestling Seth Rollins. That hasn't stopped people from speculating on what a match between Sting and Taker would have been like, including The Icon himself who discussed the topic on The Apter Chat this week.

"I wanted it to be my very last match against Undertaker, to go out like that. I think probably there was potential for it to happen and then I got hurt," Sting revealed. The former WCW Champion also discussed what he had planned if that feud were to take place. "It all has to do with slight of hand and special effects and holograms and oh man, I had some ideas that would have rocked everybody."

Unfortunately, Sting's injury is the type that will keep him sidelined forever like Edge's and not one he can fight back from like Daniel Bryan. That means all of those cool ideas he had for a rivalry with The Undertaker will have to remain in his imagination. Meanwhile, we'll have to settle for at least having half of that dream match still active today, and look forward to him wrestling at WWE Super Show-Down next weekend.
