WWE returns to PPV this weekend via Stomping Grounds. As you make your way through the card, you'll probably notice that it is filled with an awful lot of rematches. However, we are still optimistic about the show. WWE's best PPVs tend to be the ones where nothing much is expected of them. Stomping Grounds will air on the WWE Network on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at 7 pm EST, or 6 pm if you want to catch the kickoff show.

Seth Rollins vs Baron Corbin for the Universal Championship

via WWE

After losing to Seth Rollins at Super Showdown, Baron Corbin has been desperately searching for a special guest referee for this match. However, Rollins has been chasing off any potential candidates with a steel chair. Sadly, despite the Universal Title being on the line, the most exciting thing about this match will probably be the reveal of the referee.

Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship

Stomping Grounds' WWE Title match is also a repeat of one we saw at Super Showdown. However, this time Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler will be locked inside a steel cage. Despite Xavier Woods not being able to lend a hand this time, we fully expect Kingston to retain in this one. But that's only because we're still convinced Shane McMahon will be winning that title soon.

Becky Lynch vs Lacey Evans for the Raw Women's Championship

via WWE

This is the Stomping Grounds match card, we swear. We realize it might not seem that way as every match so far has been a rematch. Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans squared off at Money In The Bank. On that occasion, Lynch may have won, but Evans cost The Man her other title in the match right after. Could Evans make Becky One Belt Becky No Belts on Sunday?

Bayley vs Alexa Bliss for the SmackDown Women's Championship

via WWE

Finally, a match that we haven't seen recently, at least not on PPV. However, it is an example of how WWE appears to have lost track of its wildcard rule. Alexa Bliss is a Raw Superstar but has won the chance to compete for the SmackDown Women's Title. Even the announcers don't seem to know what will happen if she wins. We guess WWE will cross that bridge if we come to it.

Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre

via WWE

Back to the rematches! However, in this instance, Roman Reigns is probably still thinking about losing to Shane O'Mac at Super Showdown. The only bad thing about this match is that one of these Superstars has to lose, and it'll probably be Drew McIntyre. Here's hoping WWE finds a way for McIntyre's loss to be attributed to Shane somehow so that The Scottish Psychopath snaps and turns on him.

Samoa Joe vs Ricochet for the United States Championship

via WWE

This might well be the match we are most excited for at Stomping Grounds. When five Superstars battled on Raw this week for the chance to take on Samoa Joe, we were hoping Ricochet would win. However, when Braun Strowman started running riot, we thought our hopes were about to be dashed. Thanks to some dastardly heel work from others in the match, it will be Ricochet getting that title shot on Sunday.

Daniel Bryan & Rowan vs Heavy Machinery for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships

via WWE

Daniel Bryan and Rowan's quest to make tag team wrestling great again will continue at Stomping Grounds. Next up to the plate, Heavy Machinery. WWE hasn't done a great job of building tag teams in recent years. That being said, this could be the start of something. Even if Otis and Tucker don't win this one, if the match is good enough, it could be the making of the recent NXT Call-ups.

Big E & Xavier Woods vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

via WWE

With Kingston busy defending the WWE Championship, Big E and Xavier Woods needed something else to do at Stomping Grounds. Enter Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Harking back to the wildcard rule, Owens and Zayn have been on Raw and SmackDown Live so much every week that we genuinely don't know which brand they belong to. Hopefully, that'll become clearer after this Sunday.

Tony Nese vs Drew Gulak vs Akira Tozawa for the Cruiserweight Championship

via WWE

Tony Nese will have only been expecting one challenger to his Cruiserweight Title at Stomping Grounds. However, due to the controversial way in which the number one contender match ended, both Drew Gulak and Akira Tozawa have earned opportunities. This match could potentially be the best one of the night. Then again, chances are it will be relegated to the kickoff show.
