WWE and Madison Square have announced that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be a part of the Raw show set for the arena on September 9.

The Garden, considered to be one of the most iconic venues in the US, is the home of the New York Knicks and hasn't hosted a WWE show since 2009. But it will open its doors to the promotion for both Raw and SmackDown, with the red brand holding something special in store for the fans.

Austin stole the show at the Raw Reunion last month and has vowed to show up whenever WWE comes knocking, although he has admitted that his wrestling days are well behind him.

WWE made the announcement via its official website on Monday.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be on hand to raise some hell when Monday Night Raw comes to New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 9," it reads. "Don’t miss your opportunity to see The Texas Rattlesnake when the red brand returns to “The World’s Most Famous Arena.”

The Raw episode will be the last before the Clash of Champions pay-per-view and Austin seems pretty excited.

"I cannot believe it has been so long. Time flies by," he tweeted. "The Garden is home to many of my favorite moments in my career. Bret Hart in Survivor Series, Undertaker in SummerSlam Highway to Hell and stunning Vince McMahon for the very first time. Along with many others. Hell Yeah!"

Austin's appearance will mark a first in almost 20 years and it should be quite a grand affair.

September will be an important month for WWE, with NXT set to move to television following an announcement over a deal with USA Network to air the brand's programming.

The show will debut on the network on September 18.

Meanwhile, you could get tickets to the MSG event here.

We're going to be seeing a lot of Stone Cold moving forward. The former superstar is becoming a frequent guest on WWE programming and also has a new show called Straight Up Steve Austin in which he hangs out with celebrities.
