NXT TakeOver: Toronto was supposed to be all about Undisputed ERA winning every single title, but that dream has already been shattered.

SummerSlam takes place tomorrow night, which means NXT TakeOver is happening right now. The build to the show, right up until the promotional video at the start of it, flaunted the fact that by the end of the night, Undisputed ERA could hold every single title in NXT. Aside from the Women's Championship, as UE doesn't have any female members, yet.

The first UE members tasked with winning gold in Toronto were Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish. The two-time NXT Tag Team Champions were tasked with defeating the Street Profits to become the first team in NXT history to win the titles three times. A task most assumed UE would achieve since the main roster appears to be beckoning Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

However, that was not the case. After a war of an opening match between the two teams, it was the Street Profits that ended up prevailing, and their Tag Team Title reign continues. As hinted at previously though, the win did not come easy. The opening match of a TakeOver event demands everything the competitors have, and all four men delivered.

Even without the added caveat of not knowing who would win the match, this one would have been a match of the night competitor. We can say that with confidence despite TakeOver being nowhere near finished as we type this. In the end, it was Ford who managed to bring things to an end, ensuring that he and Dawkins will still be wearing the titles during their skits on Raw for the foreseeable future.

As we type this, we now face a TakeOver where the night could come to an end with UE members all being titleless. If Roderick Strong fails to win his triple threat match, and Adam Cole loses the NXT Championship to Johnny Gargano, the quartet could hold none of the gold rather than all of it. If that happens, we might well see the cracks begin to show between all four members of UE.
