AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura, who wowed fans at Wrestle Kingdom 10, certainly know how to deliver the goods. When they met again at WrestleMania 34, the audience was shocked when Nakamura turned heel. Every match since has left fans wanting more. Now, they are set to battle it out in a Last Man Standing match at Money in the Bank in June after Nakamura defeated Styles so badly SmackDown Live he couldn’t answer a ten count.

The Last Man Standing match will be the fifth time Styles and Nakamura face off on TV or pay-per view in 2018. At Backlash, a no disqualification match ended without a clear victor as Styles and Nakamura both low-blowed each other and couldn't answer the 10 count. The two also traded barbs recently with Nakamura saying that when he sees Styles, all he can envision is a "knee to face," while Styles stated that Nakamura isn’t able to beat him when the stakes are high, which explains his cheap shots. Styles added, "you're not the Shinsuke Nakamura we wanted on SmackDown Live."

There are several theories as to what the outcome of this match might be. The WWE, with its sights set on SummerSlam, may want to keep this feud going and may opt for a double count out in the Last Man Standing match, which may mean ending the fight with two low blows again. Yet, with the exception of the matches at WrestleMania and SmackDown Live last week, none of the confrontations have ended with a clear winner, therefore the WWE may want to continue building the AJ Styles brand and place him as the decicive winner.

This possibility may not deliver what fans want, but it may give the WWE a way to extend the ongoing feud, and focus instead on their individual talents, which are many. If this is the intention of the WWE, the match will likely not be scheduled for the end of Money in the Bank 2018.

The actual Money in the Bank match will showcase eight men, who will compete in two different ladder matches in the hopes of landing a championship match contract, which they can cash in at their discretion. Although the Styles vs. Nakamura face-off has given fans many memorable moments, there have also been lulls, therefore the WWE may want to surprise the audience with a Big E win in order to propel him into a singles career.

Another contender for the contract is The Miz, who might win the ladder match and then just watch as Styles and Nakamura take each other down. Given his superstar status, The Miz would make an exciting WWE Champion, and could provide a fresh challenger for the blue brand's top prize. Though, this option would only make sense if Styles beats Nakamura cleanly.

That's a real possibility too. WWE may want to mix it up and have Styles take out Nakamura in order to move onto a new challenger at Extreme Rules and SummerSlam. Don’t count Nakamura out just yet, his WWE career has boundless potential. Also, given that Nakamura chose the stipulation, he may have a plan in place in his quest to become the WWE Champion. His reign would certainly be exciting to watch, since Styles has already held the title for some time now. He's had a few opportunities, but for whatever reason, WWE has yet to pull the trigger on a Nakamura championship run. If he does lose, WWE runs the chance of fans giving up on the Japanese megastar.

Regardless, a Last Man Standing match is normally a feud ender. It's kind of hard to go anywehre else from there, and that may be for the best. One of the key issues with this rivalry that there has been no resolution only endless feuding.

There's a lot for Styles to do without the title, however. Some envision Styles taking on Samoa Joe, The Miz, Andrade Almas or Big Cass, with Nakamura facing off against stars like Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy or Randy Orton, which would allow for WWE Championship caliber feuds among new players. Regardless of the outcome, fans are going to Money in the Bank 2018 hoping for some first-rate fighting and a clear finish for Styles and Nakamura.

Though, it does seem silly to complain about a long Styles vs Nakamura feud. The two are premiere workers, and on any given night, can be considered the best in the world at what they do. Only time will tell where this will go, but this could be the blowoff fans have been waiting for.
