The WWE Universe waited a long time for an inevitable Roman Reigns heel turn, and now they finally have it.

The seeds for his transition to heel were planted at SummerSlam. Reigns returned following a five-month hiatus and attacked both new Universal Champion Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

That set up a No Holds Barred triple threat match for the Universal title at Payback. Reigns, of course, didn't sign the match contract beforehand. He refused to do so on SmackDown Live, and instead waited until both Wyatt and Strowman were down and out (following a suplex from The Fiend that cause the ring to collapse) before finally declaring his entry.

Reigns quickly moved into the ring and pinned Strowman to easily regain the Universal Championship. The new partnership with legendary manager Paul Heyman, as well as the Payback match booking, all but solidified Reigns' heel turn.

We know that Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against his cousin, Jey Uso, at the Sept. 27 Clash of Champions pay-per-view. But after Uso, which superstars should Reigns feud with next?

Here are the best options.

Bray Wyatt

Let's get this one out of the way.

WWE is reportedly planning to make Reigns a long-term Universal Champion, and it sounds like he and Wyatt will eventually feud down the road . Remember, Reigns vs. The Fiend was initially the plan for WrestleMania 36.

Ideally, WWE would wait until closer to WrestleMania season to run this feud. But one can also argue that Reigns and Wyatt are capable of keeping this program fresh and exciting for a long period. So maybe WWE would like to start it sooner rather than later?

We all know a Reigns-Wyatt program will start at some point. The latter is already flourishing as the top heel on SmackDown, and Wyatt has made an easy transition to babyface.

This promises to be a thrilling and enticing feud. The only question is when WWE will start it, not if.

Big E

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are sidelined with injuries, and it's widely believed that WWE is planning to give Big E a major singles push.

If WWE is indeed planning to give Big E a chance in the main event scene, why not place him in a feud against Reigns as soon as possible? The former's popularity among the fans is still at an all-time high, and this WWE's chance to capitalize on it.

Big E shouldn't be in the mid-card scene much longer. Reigns will need a new opponent when he's done feuding with Uso, and Big E would be perfect in just about every regard.

WWE could go either way with this. If they don't want The Fiend ending Reigns' title run at, say, WrestleMania season, why not Big E? He has all the makings to be a top babyface, given his popularity, strong in-ring work and charismatic personality.

On the flip side, , WWE could continue to build up Reigns as a massive heel by having him defeat several fan favorites in Universal title matches. This is how they built Brock Lesnar into a major heel, so why not try the same direction with Reigns?

One way or another, WWE has to make Big E vs. Reigns happen. If not at WrestleMania, why not for Survivor Series season?

Daniel Bryan

These two superstars briefly teamed up together last year when the latter ended his partnership with Rowan, who tried to hide his identity as Reigns' secret attacker. So why not pit them against one another now?

As a perennial fan favorite, Daniel Bryan will always make it work with a heel. He was instrumental in helping the Bray Wyatt's massive push last year during their short feud, after all.

If WWE is looking to capitalize on Reigns' momentum, they should strongly consider booking him against Bryan. The promos between Heyman and the future Hall of Famer would make for grade-A television, and the matches would be top notch.

Since he came out of retirement in 2018, Bryan has mainly been used in the mid-card/tag team division. When he returns, WWE shouldn't wait too long to give him another run in the main event spotlight.

He would be the perfect opponent for Reigns, especially on the buildup for WrestleMania 37. And again, Reigns would just bring more intensity upon himself as a heel if he were to defeat another marquee fan favourite in Bryan.
