2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Terrell Owens worked out for Chris Jones - head coach and general manager of the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders - according to Stephen Hargis of the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

The legendary wide receiver was added to the negotiating list of the Edmonton Eskimos, but the two sides never reached a contract. Owens was released from the team's negotiation list on July 20, making him a free agent and eligible to try out and sign with any of the other eight CFL teams.

"I saw the video and he had clocked at 4.41 or 4.43 or whatever it was and he looked in great shape so I thought well you know, I’m going be home and he is going to be home in the Chattanooga area and it gave us an opportunity to get him in front of us," Jones said, per Hargis. "He is a physical presence and its just about seeing if he is in football shape."

Owens turned heads in June when he was filmed running a 4.43 40-yard dash at the age of 44, a sign that perhaps he's still got plenty of football left in the tank. The CFL has happily welcomed in notable NFL players, namely Johnny Manziel and Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson.

Any team that signs Owens would attract far more interest from the general public, especially in the United States. But for these CFL teams, it comes down to winning, and none of them will sign T.O. unless they think he is in primary shape to compete with players half his age.

Owens ranks second all-time in career receiving yards (15,934), and third in touchdown receptions (153). His last NFL season was in 2010 with the Cincinnati Bengals, where Owens caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns.

It'd be quite the story if Owens - out of professional football for almost a full decade - made it back in his mid-40s. The Eskimos opted to pass on signing the football legend, but the Roughriders are giving him a chance.
