The Rock Names His Three GOATs Following The Anniversary Of His WrestleMania X8 Showdown With Hulk Hogan

Usually, the Greatest of All Time title is reserved for just one person. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, though, has listed three WWE legends as his GOATs.

Johnson, who is also widely regarded as the GOAT, was definitely the most electrifying. And he would battle Hulk Hogan in a match billed "Icon vs. Icon" at WrestleMania X8 for the coveted title of Greatest of All Time.

With the event's anniversary having passed this weekend, The Rock took to social media to reflect on the event and express his gratitude to Hogan, while naming him among the three greatest wrestlers to ever grace the ring, with Ric Flair and Steve Austin listed as the other two.

"Torch passed. Grateful," he posted via his Instagram account on Monday. What made this match so special was that there was no Heavyweight Championship on the line. Just two men. Just two careers.

"My friend and childhood hero, Hulk Hogan passed the torch to me on this historic night which decreed me becoming “THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME”, but the truth is – to me – the GOAT are the three men who paved the way for me and so many others in pro wrestling/ @hulkhogan, @ricflairnatureboy, @steveaustinbsr.

"I just worked very hard, connected with the audience and caught a break. These GOATS were good enough to recognize I had something to offer and graciously passed the torch."

What This Means

WrestleMania X8 went down as one of the best in the history of the WWE. The event saw Chris Jericho go up against Triple H for the Undisputed WWF Championship while Austin would take on on Scott Hall, with The Nature Boy facing The Undertaker.

The Rock's match against Hogan was undoubtedly the most anticipated, despite no belts being involved, and it certainly lived up to the billing as the former would go on to cement his place as one of wrestling's best-ever talents with a well-earned victory that prompted Hogan to stretch out a hand as a sign of respect.

The veteran would also turn face for the first time in four years after he was attacked by nWo members, Hall and Kevin Nash, something The Rock helped out with en route to more displays of mutual respect.
