The Rock has been forced to take back a joke he made about being related to the new British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

There are a number of incredibly famous families in the wrestling business. The Harts, the McMahons, the Flairs, the Von Erichs. However, there is none bigger than the Samoan Dynasty. It seems as if two things are guaranteed if you come from Samoa. You'll be a great wrestler, and you'll somehow be related to every other Samoan who has ever passed through WWE.

The Rock is one of those wrestlers with a proud Samoan heritage. His grandfather and father are both Hall Of Famers, and he is the cousin of current WWE Superstar Roman Reigns. However, Rock recently joked that he had a familial tie to someone we were not expecting him to ever mention. British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

Rock recently appeared on Good Morning Britan to hype his upcoming movie, Hobbs & Shaw. When the topic of the PM was broached, the former WWE Champion joked that the pair were cousins, stemming from the fact that they share the same surname. "He's my cousin. It's like looking in the mirror, every time I see Boris," Rock jokingly said to the interviewer.

What Rock likely didn't realize when he said this was how split the new PM has got the people of Britain. The movie star then inadvertently added fuel to the flames by praising Johnson for comments he made during a speech recently. That tweet has since been deleted, and Rock even felt the need to explain that he and Johnson are not really cousins. "According to the people, maybe we’re not related," Rock tweeted, thanking them for "education on the individual I did not know."

If rumors that Rock is planning on running for president at some point in his career are true, he will probably want to bone up on his world leaders. Not for now though, as he has confirmed that talk of him running during the 2020 elections are not true. The British PM will be disappointed Rock put a stop to the joke so soon, though. Who doesn't want to be related to The Rock?
