We’ve seen plenty of new women make their WWE debut in late 2017, and with all the new performers, it has led to rumors that WWE are planning a women’s Royal Rumble match. Those rumors were finally confirmed on this week's Raw as Stephanie McMahon announced that it will take place in 2018. So we have 5 things that WWE needs to do with this match to make it a resounding success.

5. Give it the same stakes as the men’s Royal Rumble

The stakes of the Royal Rumble match make it the most important bout of the year for most performers, as it ensures a WrestleMania main event (unless you’re Randy Orton) and a World Championship match. It also makes a lot of sense for the women to have the same thing on the line. Obviously, the winner of this match won’t headline WrestleMania (as that spot has been given to Roman Reigns 3 straight years, and won’t change in 2018), but a Women’s title match on The Grandest Stage has to be the reward. We can argue whether it should be a 20 or 30 women match, but this is the one thing that 100% has to be similar to the men.

4. Give them their own PPV

Royal Rumble has been the event that hosts the match for the past 30 years (obviously), and it’s a good candidate for the women’s match. But two full hours of nothing but a battle royal might wear the fans down a bit, so why not give the women their own PPV event? It could come a week or two after the Royal Rumble event itself, and it could simply just be the main event of any otherwise basic show. But a simple idea like this would prove how important this match and the women are to WWE. There have been rumblings that this one would come true if the WWE pull a trigger on a women’s Royal Rumble, and it gives the women a bigger focus, which is quite important, so expect this one to happen.

3. Set up MMA Four Horsewomen vs. WWE Horsewomen

This is a match that’s been rumored since we saw teases between the two groups during the Mae Young Classic, and it makes perfect sense for WrestleMania, so why not use this high stakes match to set it up? The match itself doesn’t need much story, as Rousey and the MMA Four Horsewomen are simply trying to invade the WWE and prove they are the superior group, but it’s usually the simplest stories that are the most entertaining. It could be something as simple as all 8 women in the ring facing each other, or one group exerting it’s dominance over the other group individually, but this has to be the time they start setting it up.

2. Surprise entrants

The Royal Rumble is usually one of the most unpredictable events of the year, and while there aren’t as many women WWE can draw on in comparison to men, we can certainly have some shocks. Michelle McCool, Lita, Trish Stratus, Kaitlyn are just a few former names we’d love to see back for one night, but that’s not all. Ronda Rousey and Toni Storm could both be huge debuts for the company (main roster debuts) and would create some mainstream buzz around the company. No matter what happens, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and WWE have to pull out all the stops to make it as entertaining and shocking as possible.

1. Actually have a female winner this time

via wwe.com

The last time we saw WWE have a historic first for women, it was the Money in the Bank ladder match. While it was a good match, James Ellsworth won the match for Carmella, and it led to the wrong kind of heat on the performers. It’s vital that this time history is made in the right manner, and it’s not like WWE lack candidates to be the first women to achieve this feat. Asuka, Paige, Ruby Riott, Charlotte and Ronda Rousey are just a few names we can think of, and it could be one of the best matches of the year if WWE do it correctly.
