Legendary golfers Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are working on an 18-hole televised match for a prize of $10 million, according to Golf.com.

The report outlines that the two have been planning this since April, and they were hoping to have played it on July 3. But it didn't work out, and Mickelson added that they're finalizing a date for the match.

Mickelson and Woods were undoubtedly the two best golfers of the 2000s, but the latter hasn't won a major since 2008, while Mickelson's WGC-Mexico Championship win in March was his first victory in five years.

Woods, 42, has won 14 majors to date - including four Masters. His last major was the 2008 U.S. Open, but numerous back and leg injuries have slowed down his dominance, and Woods hasn't won a tournament since 2013.

As for Mickelson, the 48-year-old has five majors on his resume, including three Masters. 'Lefty' was Woods' greatest competition throughout the 2000s, but the PGA tour has since been dominated by younger golfers such as Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlRoy.

Nonetheless, Mickelson and Woods remain two of the most popular golfers on the planet today. Even if neither of them are at the top of their respective games anymore, the golf world will be enthralled to see the two legends square off in a one-on-one match.

Despite the natural rivalry between the golfing icons, Mickelson and Woods have had a great relationship on the tour, which will make this match all the more intriguing. Both have hundreds of millions in the bank, but playing for a whopping $10 million makes this match all the more exciting.

Now, we just await the details of the match, including the date and which network will broadcast it.
