It took more than five years, but after a prolonged absence from holding a PGA Major Championship trophy, Tiger Woods finally won a tournament with his victory at the Tour Championship on Sunday.

One year ago, Woods wasn't looked at by many in golf as much of a threat. But, after a strong few months and coming close to the top of the list at the PGA Championship in August, Tiger took it to the field at the 2018 Tour Championship, winning the tournament by two strokes. He closed out his four days with a score of 71 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, finished the tournament at 11 strokes under par and more importantly put himself back in every conversation for the foreseeable future when it comes to picking the favorite in the next number of PGA major tournaments.

With the victory, Tiger also moved from 20th in the FedEx Cup standings to second, just behind Justin Rose, who took home the top $10 million prize. It was Tiger's victory that helped cement Rose as this year's FedEx Champion.

Coming into Sunday's round, Tiger had a three-stroke lead. At one point in the day, he extended his lead to as many as five strokes and with disappointing rounds by a number of other golfers, Woods win was never really in question. He missed a birdie on the final hole by an inch and sunk his par put to earn the 80th victory of his career.

The scene on the final hole as Woods approached the green was like nothing golf has ever seen. He was surrounded by fans who walked with him up the fairway to play his third shot. He disappeared momentarily in the sea of people only to reemerge to take his bunker shot among a great deal of commotion and eventually finish his round.

Woods didn't hit the longest drives all week but he was consistent. His putting was good and his overall game steady. If not for Rose making shots when he needed to, Woods could have actually won both the tournament and the FedEx Cup — a feat that would have been unthinkable mere months ago.

To say the least, Tiger Woods is back and he's in the middle of arguably the greatest comeback story in sports history.
