LA Clippers Forward Tobias Harris will test free agency next summer when he will be in the prime of his career at 27-years-old as he turned down a big-time extension. By doing so, he is leaving a lot of money on the table.

According to MSN.com, the deal he would be eligible for with the Clippers was five years and $188 million, which is the max value an NBA contract a player can have. If he signs with another team, the max he can get is a four year $145.5 million. The contract that Harris turned down recently was an $80 million extension. No matter how you look at it, he's about to cash in big time, up from his present $64 million four year contract which he signed back in July 2015.

Harris was part of the Blake Griffin trade on Jan. 29, 2018. Since being moved to the Clippers, Harris averaged 19.3 points per game and six rebounds over 32 games. Over his seven-year career, he has played for the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, and Orlando Magic.

Obviously, for a premier player of Harris' caliber, a lot of teams are going to try really hard to sign him next July when he will test the market. To get him at the best point of his prime makes him all the more desirable for potential teams.

Though this will mean teams will really need to pony up the money if they want to sign him, free agency is always a frenzy no matter what sport it is, and General Managers always go incredibly silly during the so-called "silly season" often spending money they will end up regretting in years to come. Harris is not likely to be one that GMs will regret in the future as he isn't an over-the0hill veteran and one who showcases a load of talent.
