For many years now, the question has been, when will Tom Brady retire? He confirmed that we won't know the answer to that question for a little bit longer now.

In an interview on Westwood One Sports, Brady stated that his goal is to not only play next season but for future seasons after that as well. He also talked about how he has stated in the past about still playing into his 40's.

Brady also acknowledged how difficult it will be for him to complete his goals. He goes on to talk about how he doesn't take things for granted and that he plans to work as hard as he can to continue to compete at a championship level.

The 41-year-old has been able to defy father-time for many years now. Which will be very surprising if he can continue playing at this level for the next couple of seasons, if that is truly how much farther he continues his career.

Brady also spoke in the interview about how his passion for the game he plays has been what has driven him to continue to work as hard as he is now. He says that he still gets excited to go to work every time he wakes up.

He also speaks about how he still loves playing the game of football, and that he doesn't think that there's any other greater gift in life than be able to do what you love. That passion and love for the game are the reasons why he has been able to play 19 seasons in the NFL.

Brady's 19th season has been a little bit of a down year compared to what he is accustomed to. Even though he has led his team to a record of 10-5, he hasn't performed as well as he has in previous seasons.

Through 15 games this season, Brady's on pace for a lower completion percentage, fewer passing yards, and fewer touchdown passes compared to a season ago. He has also thrown the most interceptions in a season since the 2013 season.

Given his age, this could be all the signs pointing toward Brady starting to regress. But, he has shown that he is still able to be productive even with these regressing numbers. Which is why he will likely be able to continue his career for another couple of seasons.

What This Means

Brady confirming that he will be back for his 20th season means that we will still be able to watch the G.O.A.T. play for another year. Even though he may be edging closer and closer to retirement, he appears to still be able to produce like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

He was just nominated to his 14th Pro Bowl in his career, which shows again that even at the age of 41, he can still be productive. So, if he can still be productive for the next couple of seasons, then he should have no problem continuing his career into his mid 40's.
