New Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady went into great depth on a variety of topics during a Wednesday interview on The Howard Stern Show.

Brady stunned the football world when he announced ahead of free agency that he was leaving the New England Patriots, following a glorious 20-year tenure that produced six Super Bowl championships.

In his interview with Stern, Brady explained his decision to leave the only NFL team he had ever known. Fans and analysts were hoping he would open up about a tense and strained relationship with head coach Bill Belichick, but Brady cited other factors that played into his choice to sign with Tampa Bay.

"This is a part for me in my life to experience something very different," Brady said, via Luke Easterling of Sports Illustrated. "There’s ways for me to grow and evolve in a different way that I haven’t had the opportunity to do...Why would I choose a different place?

"It’s because it was just time. I don’t know what to say other than that. I accomplished everything I could in two decades with an incredible organization, an incredible group of people, and that will never change. No one can ever take that away from me. No one can ever take those experiences or Super Bowl championships away from us."

Brady also cited "family decisions" as a reason for signing with Tampa Bay. Brady wanted to be closer to his son Jack (whom he had with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan), who lives in New York. Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen have a son and one daughter.

The soon-to-be 43-year-old also talked about wanting "to play with great players," which he will get in Tampa Bay; Mike Evans and Chris Godwin both hit the 1,000-yard receiving mark in 2019. He also detailed the chance to endure "a warm climate" for the first time in his career.

In the interview, Brady only had nice things to say about Belichick - noting that they needed one another to be successful. Brady added that he isn't worried about his legacy, and that he has no hard feelings towards the Patriots.

Brady's contract with the Buccaneers is worth $50 million (fully guaranteed) over two years. Right now, Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham are the only quarterback on New England's depth chart, although Belichick could look to add someone in the draft.

Brady Handled Everything Right

Multiple reports have detailed the rift between Brady and Belichick. There were certainly some drama going on behind the scenes, but being the professionals they are, both Brady and Belichick put it aside and refused to spare any details. And there's a good chance it'll stay that way.
