NXT superstars Tomasso Ciampa and Johny Gargano made their first appearances on Raw this Monday.

The episode showcased two other NXT performers on their debuts, with Ricochet and Aleister Black also getting summoned to the WWE's flagship show.

The former pair were quite impressive, defeating Raw tag team champions, The Revival, in a non-title match. And, while Gargano was taken aback by it all, it came as no surprise to Ciampa, who reckons that they're the WWE's best performers.

“I don’t know, it’s a weird feeling,” Gargano told Cathy Kelley backstage after their match. “I don’t know really how to feel [about debuting]. I don’t think any of it has set in yet. I’m one of those types of people that kind of takes things as they come. This has all been such a whirlwind — I don’t know, I’m numb right now.

"I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but I’m incredibly numb. Yeah, I don’t know…”

“This is not a surprise," Ciampa said, disagreeing. "We’re the two best performers in all of WWE. We turned NXT into the A-Show.

"We walked into Monday Night RAW and we beat the tag team champions on our first night. This isn’t happenstance. I’m the greatest sports entertainer of all time. He’s Johnny Wrestling. Whether you call us DIY or not doesn’t matter. You will call us champions, you will call us legends, you will remember us forever.”

This was the first time Gargano and Ciampa teamed up since the split of DIY, but they looked pretty good on the night.

What This Means

We could be seeing a lot more of these cross-show matches, with Triple H's vision for the WWE - one in which all the brands can compete with each other - seemingly come into play.

Women's tag team champions Sasha Banks and Bayley are also set to defend their titles on Raw, SmackDown and NXT, suggesting that the above is exactly what's going on.

It makes perfect sense for the WWE, given the talent spread across the three brands. Let's see how it plays out.
