In Tomasso Ciampa's first tweet for two weeks, he has revealed that doctors have told him if he returns to the ring he will be on borrowed time.

All too often it feels as if wrestlers get injured at the most inopportune times. Two examples that immediately come to mind are Seth Rollins when he busted his knee, and Finn Balor injuring himself the night he became Universal Champion. We know there is no right time to be injured, but at times like those, it must make it hurt that much more.

Someone who sadly knows way too much about inopportune injuries in Tomasso Ciampa. The former NXT Champion is once again out of action, this time for neck issues. What's even worse is the Blackheart of NXT may be missing from WWE for an entire year while he recovers. Well, judging by the tweet he sent out on Monday, to see him wrestling again this time next year might be a best-case scenario.

In what is his first tweet in more than two weeks, Ciampa has hinted that he may never wrestle again. The NXT Superstar starts out by describing another time in his life when he was told he would probably never wrestle again. Back in 2017, after undergoing three major surgeries in the space of 12 weeks, doctors said no one had ever returned to a competitive level after their body had been through so much in such a short space of time.

Ciampa then goes on to write that later this week, he should be defending the NXT Title at TakeOver: New York, and that match meaning more to him than anyone can understand. He is obviously not due to having recently undergone surgery and instead, Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole will compete for the vacant championship. Ciampa then writes that doctors have told him if he wrestles again, it will be on "borrowed time."

That is a pretty scary thing to be told, and not something that will be easy to read for Ciampa fans. We are also uncertain as to what he means exactly. Does borrowed time mean his career will come to an end relatively quickly if he wrestles again, or that he may die in the ring if he returns to action? The way it's written, it seems as if Ciampa is determined to defy the odds once again. We may have to wait a long time to find out his fate for certain.
