The whole WWE 2K19 roster has now been released and there are a few notable absentees, including the NXT Champion.
WWE 2K19 will hit video game store shelves on October 5, 2018, and for the past few weeks, the roster and Superstar ratings have been gradually revealed to us. The number of playable characters available seems to get bigger and bigger each year and there are once again a lot of Superstars who will be making their WWE video game debuts, most of whom are currently in NXT.
There are always going to be notable absences, however, those normally include the likes of CM Punk or NXT Superstars who weren't quite signed in time to make the cut. This year that's not the case. Nikki Cross and Brian Kendrick, who have both been around for a while and were both featured on WWE 2K18, have not been named despite the full on-disc roster being revealed.
The biggest name left off of WWE 2K19's roster though is undoubtedly Tomasso Ciampa, the current NXT Champion, who was also on WWE 2K18. once the full roster had been revealed, Ciampa responded to being omitted from the game in a way that only he can. The black heart of NXT wrote "I don't lose. Not in real life, Sure as hell not in your fantasy world."
Ciampa has been famously outspoken since his heel turn in NXT, initially refusing to let WWE Shop create and sell merch pertaining to him. Perhaps he has taken that want to the next level and has even requested that his likeness no longer be used on WWE's video games. However, the tweet has since been deleted so it's likely that the company asked him to take it down.
The most likely scenario is that Ciampa, Cross, and Kendrick will be a part of some kind of downloadable content once the game is released. WWE 2K has been very careful to say that the list of names revealed so far is merely the on-disc roster. Since 2K has taken over creation of WWE's video games there have always been extra Superstars to get your hands on after the fact, fingers crossed that Ciampa is one of them.
