Torrie Wilson Hits Back After Negative Reaction To Her Hall Of Fame Inclusion

Torrie Wilson has responded to the negative feedback that has surfaced since she was announced as a Hall of Fame inductee.

The WWE recently confirmed that the former star would join The Honky Tonk Man and D-Generation X (Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, X-Pac, and Chyna) as part of their 2019 Hall of Fame class. But there has been quite a bit of backlash, with fans having claimed that Wilson hasn't done much to deserve a spot.

Well, she has something to say about that and has reminded people that she was never calling the shots.

“I think some of the people that are angry are the same people that are forgetting that this is an entertainment show and I was not calling the shots backstage going, ‘Hey Vince, can I please wrestle in a bikini tonight?’” she told DavidLeGreca and Bully Ray on Busted Open Radio.

“I actually was out there with Fit Finlay going, ‘OK, what’s the most athletic match I can put together with a bikini on?”

Wilson never managed to win a championship during her time with the WWE and, while she realized this after getting told she would be inducted, she also ended up taking what she did bring to the table into consideration.

“I don't know if it's human nature, I believe that it is. Fear kind of runs our world. Immediately when I hung up the phone, I sat there and thought, like…I basically started putting together this list of all the things I’m not. And I was never a champion,” she said.

“I could do much better than my haters about beating myself up. Then I had to put myself in check but there are a lot of things that I am. I’m not Charlotte Flair, I’m not jumping off ladders, but I am Torrie Wilson and I did have something to bring to the table. I think for most people, we are just too quick to start listening to the negatives and losing focus on what we can bring to the table.”

What This Means

Wilson can't string a list of championships and accolades together when she looks back at her wrestling career, and she did have a bit of a reputation for participating in matches that were a bit sexual.

However, she was only doing her job at the end of the day and if the WWE deems her fit to be included in their Hall of Fame class this year then so be it.
