On Thursday morning, WWE announced that former Raw general manager and WCW President Eric Bischoff will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Bischoff is the second confirmed inductee for the 2021 Hall of Fame class. Molly Holly was the first name announced last week.

Bischoff was widely regarded as one of the greatest Hall of Fame snubs, given his immense contributions to the wrestling business. Finally, WWE has decided it's time to give the 65-year-old the honors.

After WWE announced the big news, Triple H took to Twitter and shared a classy message for Bischoff, acknowledging his work in the wrestling business.

Bischoff was instrumental in putting WCW on the wrestling map in the '90s, which led to the "Wednesday Night Wars" with WWE.

He signed a plethora of Vince McMahon's top stars (including Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, Ultimate Warrior, Roddy Piper and Lex Luger) and introduced the legendary New World Order stable.

A year after WCW was bought out by WWE in 2001, McMahon signed Bischoff to serve as the GM of Raw. He held that role until Dec. 2005, when he was "fired" as part of a storyline.

In June 2019, WWE hired Bischoff for the SmackDown Executive Director Role. However, he was replaced by Bruce Prichard four months later. Bischoff later explained that the fit just wasn't there.

The 2020 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, the 2020 inductees will also be part of the 2021 Hall of Fame ceremony on Apr. 6 - four days before WrestleMania 37 weekend. The event will air on Peacock.

The 2020 class features Batista, The British Bulldog, JBL, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, The Bella Twins and the nWo (Hogan, Nash, Hall and Sean Waltman).

Long Overdue

Many were surprised when Bischoff wasn't announced as part of the 2020 Hall of Fame class with the nWo. He was the man who created that stable, after all. But good things come to those who wait, and it was only a matter of time until Bischoff earned the honors.
