TV Personality John Oliver Invited By WWE to WrestleMania 35

After being called out by John Oliver on Sunday, WWE has responded by inviting the tv host to WrestleMania 35 this Sunday to learn about their company and how WWE actually handles it Health and Wellness policy.

In response to John Oliver’s HBO rant on “Last Week Tonight” WWE has reached out to Oliver and invited him to their massive yearly extravaganza. Oliver used his tv show platform to call out WWE, namely Vince McMahon for hiring "independent contractors" who Oliver labeled as performers who didn't get the benefits most independent contractors get, such as health benefits and the ability to work for other companies.

Not happy with the way Oliver made McMahon and his company out to be, WWE responded on Monday by saying, "John Oliver is clearly a clever and humorous entertainer, however the subject matter covered in his WWE segment is no laughing matter."

They went on to add, "Prior to airing, WWE responded to his producers refuting every point in his one-sided presentation. John Oliver simply ignored the facts. The health and wellness of our performers is the single most important aspect of our business, and we have a comprehensive, longstanding Talent Wellness program." They then invited Oliver to join them this Sunday.

What This Means

It is unlikely Oliver accepts the invitation to WrestleMania 35. But, that doesn't really matter. Sure, if Oliver showed up, it would be a great opportunity for WWE to turn what was some bad press and dropping stock prices after the report into an opportunity to make Oliver look foolish.

Even if Oliver doesn't show, just by inviting him, WWE has turned lemons into lemonade in a manner of speaking. That they aren't afraid to call him out on his report means they aren't afraid of what he or his producers would discover.

It would be great if he did show up so Roman Reigns could give him a piece of his mind. It probably doesn't sit well with the Big Dog that Oliver said he looked like a pedophile.
