A teammate of the new quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, Tyrod Taylor, revealed that fans and media have been mispronouncing Taylor's name since the day he was drafted in the NFL.

Thanks to ESPN reporter Lee Corso calling him Tie-Rod when he was at Virginia Tech, what everyone has assumed is correct should actually be pronounced as Tuh-Rod. Joel Bitonio, Taylor's teammate made sure to clarify that fact when he had the opportunity to set the record straight.

The NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala tweeted that Bitonio told her it’s Tuh-ROD, and she pledged to get it right from now on. She said, "This is how good of a teammate LT Joel Bitonio is. He told me Tyrod Taylor’s name is actually pronounced TUH-rod, not TY-rod. And that while Taylor may be too nice to correct people, HE feels it’s important to get it right."

Tyrod's name is going to be said a lot this season as the Cleveland Browns have an interesting story going on at quarterback in their organization. Both newly drafted QB Baker Mayfield and Taylor — who was acquired from the Buffalo Bills — have looked good this NFL preseason. A debate about who gets the call come the opening of the regular season as the starting quarterback has already started.

After the Browns went 1-31 over the past couple seasons, it is imperative they find a way to stop losing. The smart play seems to be to play the veteran but there may be too much excitement not to put in Mayfield if the Browns struggle at all out of the gate.

Perhaps the story of the Brown' struggles should be the focus moving forward and Taylor seems to agree. In a media scrum, when the first question about the mispronunciation of his name, he laughed. “That’s a big deal, huh?"

Humoring reporters, Taylor did also say that his mother doesn't actually call him by either name, but by his middle name, Di’allo. He added, "She’s only allowed to call me that, so y’all can’t start calling me that."
