Arjan Bhullar is one of the top fighters that you probably don't know about. The Richmond, B.C. native won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Dehli, and became one of the top wrestlers in all of Canada.
Bhullar then transitioned towards a career in MMA. The 31-year-old is 7-0 in his mixed martial arts career and won his first UFC fight in September. As it turns out, Bhullar was given the opportunity to join the WWE, as real-life friend Jinder Mahal tried recruiting him into the squared circle.
In an interview with The Sun, Bhullar talked about how he nearly joined the WWE after representing Canada in the 2012 Summer Olympics:
"The WWE wanted me to come down to the development centre in Florida and go through that. I actually reached out to Jinder and asked him about the schedule and what it would look like if I were to take that opportunity. I realised how crazy it is - they're never at home. I'm a pretty family-orientated guy and I still have that competitive edge as well. For those two reasons I was able to go the UFC route."
Bhullar did admit, however, that he "grew up on WWE," so he's "open to dabble" for the company some day. But until that time, Jinder Mahal will continue to have to flourish as one of the few natives of British Columbia on the WWE roster.
It's never too late for Bhullar to join the WWE, given his background in wrestling and connections with Mahal. Of course, Brock Lesnar has fought for both companies, and there are rumors about women's UFC star Ronda Rousey joining the WWE in the near future.
But it's easy to understand why Bhullar isn't ready to join the WWE yet. Per The Sun, Bhullar and his wife are about to have a child. The daunting schedule of being a WWE Superstar wouldn't allow him to be with his family much.
Keep your eye on Bhullar. The guy has an impressive resume, and could absolutely be a huge addition to the WWE some day.
