We were expecting Shawn Michaels to appear on Raw this week, but the return of The Undertaker came as something of a surprise.

WWE is staging it's second big international show of the year on October 6, 2018, in Melbourne, Australia, Super Show-Down. While a few matches have already been announced for the massive stadium show, the centerpiece will be a match between Triple H and The Undertaker. A bout we haven't seen for more than eight years, and apparently the last time the two of them will ever face off against each other.

For the last couple of weeks, WWE has been showing self-recorded video clips of former Superstars talking about the mega match and making predictions. The likes of Stone Cold, Ric Flair, Big Show, and a few others. Shawn Michaels decided to make his thoughts about the match known in person, appearing on Raw this week to do exactly that.

It seemed a little suspicious that almost all of the clips featured stars who were backing Taker for the win, and HBK acknowledged that. He then went on to talk about how he believes The Deadman doesn't have much left in the tank. Those are fighting words, hence the gong sounding, the lights going out, and Undertaker making his way down the ramp to join Michaels in the ring.

While it felt as if Michaels had been treading water somewhat up until that point, things really got kicked up a notch once he had someone to go back and forth with. HBK argued that he had kept to his word and not returned to compete after his retirement out of respect for a lot of things, one being The Phenom. Taker's counterpoint was that Michaels had simply not wrestled again because he was too afraid to return to the ring.

Most were expecting HBK to announce that he would be the special guest referee for the big match at Super Show-Down, however, that didn't happen. Instead, he had a heated confrontation with an old rival which felt like the seeds being sewn for an in-ring return. Michaels effectively said that he had stayed retired out of respect for The Undertaker, but The Deadman obviously doesn't see it that way. Perhaps Michaels' role in this angle will be more than just an official.
