He's only been wrestling on a part-time basis for most of the past 10 years, but The Undertaker always made sure he was present for WrestleMania.

But things appear to be different this time around for The Deadman. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Daniel Yanofsky of WrestlingInc.com), there aren't any planned matches for 'Taker as WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey draws closer.

As Yanofsky pointed out, things could always change between now and Apr. 7, the date of the show. But for now, it looks like Undertaker may be absent from WrestleMania for the first time in 19 years. Back in 2000, he was nursing a nagging groin injury and was forced to miss the big show.

There have been ongoing rumors about Undertaker's retirement for several years now. Roman Reigns bragged about "retiring" The Deadman at WrestleMania 33, hinting that his legendary career was finished with. Of course, Undertaker returned a year later to squash John Cena at WrestleMania 34 last year.

Undertaker has wrestled in a handful of matches since defeating Cena, defeating Rusev in a Casket match at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view. He lost a singles match to Triple H at Super Show-Down back in October, then teamed up with Kane - where they lost to The Game and Shawn Michaels at Crown Jewel.

The soon-to-be 54-year-old has dealt with numerous injuries over the past five years, including a concussion and even required hip replacement surgery. There aren't any indications that he's on the verge of retirement, so the news of him likely not performing at WrestleMania this year will come as a surprise to many.

What This Means

One of the finest traditions in sports entertainment has been watching The Deadman suit up on the Grandest Stage of Them All. So if he's truly not performing this year, fans and pundits are going to be quite disappointed. WrestleMania is The Undertaker, after all.
