Thanks to their loud and brash personalities which they are allowed to freely show off on television, The Usos have become a must-see act on SmackDown Live. It's been that way since they turned heel late in 2016 and ditched what was becoming a stale babyface act. Just like their on-and-off-again rivals The New Day, fan support has turned them back into babyfaces and big stars in the merch booth, what with their "Day One Ish" t-shirts and "Uso Penitentiary" catchphrase. But with Jey Uso recently getting busted for driving under the influence, one has to wonder whether WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi's twin sons can keep up their momentum and hang on to their SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

As previously reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet, Jey Uso, aka Joshua Fatu in real life, was arrested early Sunday morning in Texas, as police pulled him over for a traffic violation and noticed that he may have been intoxicated. After he was found to be under the influence, he was charged and arrested. WWE has not yet taken any action against the 32-year-old, multi-time tag team champion, and he was able to show up for SmackDown Live taping on Tuesday, as The Usos' feud with Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin continued to move forward on television.

Although Jey's DUI arrest marks the first time he's ran afoul with the law in what has been a fairly long WWE career, the recent incident is just the latest in several when it comes to both Usos getting pulled over for driving-related offenses. In 2011, Jimmy Uso racked up a DUI arrest of his own, and two years later, he was arrested for driving with a suspended license while still under probation. These incidents make you wonder whether The Usos should stick to hailing an Uber going forward, being that they like to party while away from the ring. But should they be punished for the DUI arrest? Although it's not as big a PR blunder as the separate marijuana possession arrests of former WWE Superstars Rob Van Dam and Jack Swagger, we say yes, and we suggest this take the form of having them do the job in a SmackDown Tag Team Championship match.

If WWE decides to immediately strip The Usos off their tag team titles as a way of punishing Jey for his behavior outside the ring, the most likely scenario would have the newly-turned Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at the Royal Rumble. After months of lukewarm returns, Gable and Benjamin are finally finding their footing as bad guys, and their recent backstage attack on The Usos was proof of it. But if WWE's creative heads bide their time and go with a heel team that's more over with the fans, maybe pulling the trigger on a Rusev Day tag team title run would work after the Rumble? There's also The Bludgeon Brothers, who need to level up after weeks of squashing lower-tier comedy babyfaces Breezango and The Ascension. The possibilities are varied, but at this point, a Gable/Benjamin win at the Rumble seems like the most plausible scenario.

There's nothing wrong with having a few drinks with your buddies and letting off some steam after a busy day at work, or in the case of WWE Superstars, after busting your behind in the ring at any given show. But it's important to drink responsibly, and regardless whether you're an average Joe or a well-known celebrity, there's no way you should be behind the wheel if you've even just had a couple of beers. Not only is it irresponsible, it's also dangerous, and could put your life and that of others at risk.

DUI and/or possession arrests are never a good look if you're a well-known pro wrestler. Just ask the aforementioned RVD and Jack Swagger – Van Dam was stripped off both his WWE and ECW Championships, while Swagger didn't just lose his chance to beat Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXIX, as his push never recovered following his arrest. While we don't think WWE should go as far as suspending or fining first-time offender Jey Uso, or placing he and his brother in the doghouse for an extended period of time, we think the company should show it means business by taking the tag belts off of The Usos. The timing seems right anyway to give chance to others, and Jimmy and Jey will likely have many chances in the future to win the titles back. That is, of course, assuming they stay away from further trouble away from the ring.
