The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs made history in their epic Monday Night Football contest - which featured the first-ever game in which both teams scored at least 50 points.

Jared Goff barely out-dueled Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs 54-51, in a game that featured plenty of turnovers, incredible catches, penalty flags and...oh yeah, touchdowns. It was the third-highest scoring game in NFL history, too.

Though 99.9 percent of football fans and pundits were highly entertained by what will go down as the game of the year, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer explained why it didn't appeal to him.

"Not my cup of tea. It might run me out of football," Mike Zimmer said, per Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune. "I just don't think you're going to win many games when allowing 50 points."

Zimmer and his Vikings got a taste of the Rams' offensive juggernaut back in Week 4 on Thursday Night Football. Kirk Cousins and Goff went back-and-forth in a thrilling shootout, in which the Rams ultimately prevailed 38-31.

Many coaches in any sport will emphasize how they don't like high-scoring games, especially when it involves their own team. Zimmer did coach Minnesota to the league's best scoring and yardage defense last season, so it's easy to see why he didn't find much joy in Monday's fireworks.

Mahomes vs. Goff lived up to every bit of the hype, as NFL fans were reminded that the league is in good company as Tom Brady and Drew Brees near the end of their legendary careers. What a night it was, and it's hard to envision a Monday Night Football game ever topping what we saw in Week 11.

What This Means

Zimmer is just being honest in his assessment, and he's certainly right in teams almost never winning games when they give up 50 points. Fortunately for coach Zimmer, the Minnesota defense he's built seems too darn good to ever give up that many points.
